Dear All,
Thank you so much for your support of our fundraiser. We're writing to share a clear update and correction about how the project is being carried out and how your donations are being used.
When we originally launched this campaign, we mistakenly described the location as Vidigal and said that Studio Tris Tattoo would be the center of both art and AI education. That was based on a misunderstanding, and we want to be completely transparent in correcting it.
The project is not taking place in Vidigal. It has two distinct parts in two different areas, both focused on supporting underserved communities through creativity, education, and technology. The first part involves supporting the renovation of Studio Tris Tattoo. While this space is not connected to AI work, it is being renovated into a creative studio, and we are actively helping with the design and build work.
The second part of the project is taking place in Complexo da Maré, in partnership with the organization AfroReggae. We are leading an AI education program focused on training local educators, who will then teach students how to use AI tools to build creative projects. AfroReggae is providing local infrastructure and coordination and some of the technology, while our team is bringing supporting technology and curriculum.
Funding Allocation
$2,000
Supporting Studio Tris Tattoo renovation
$3,000
Purchasing graphic cards, laptops, and related hardware for the AI education program
These amounts may shift slightly based on final costs and needs. Any excess funds that remain after equipment is purchased will be donated directly to AfroReggae to continue supporting their work in Maré.
We deeply regret the confusion caused by our initial messaging and have taken down the website to prevent further misunderstandings. While the original description combined the two efforts into one location, the overall mission — to support community-led innovation, creativity, and education — remains the same.
Thank you again for your generosity and trust. You are making a real difference in the lives of people working to build opportunity from within their own communities.
Sincerely,
Team
